Shipped File Details

Details on the most relevant files that ship with Resonic.

All files that ship with Resonic are generally safe to use if you downloaded them from the official site.

We refuse malicious intent, make sure all content is virus checked before release, refuse monetization offers, and digitally sign all our executable files (.exe), dynamic link libraries (.dll), and Windows Installer setup packages (.msi).

But we also protect our hard work which might cause some files to be flagged as false positives by a few niche virus scanners. Which files are affected is pretty much random and different from release to release.

Common

Our files must be digitally signed, usually reading Liqube Audio e.U. before and from 2020.

Some files that are part of Alpha builds, which are not intended for the general public, might be signed differently or not at all.

Resonic.exe

This is the main executable for either Resonic Player or Resonic Pro.

Both flavors use the same filename.

ResonicLib.dll

This is the main Resonic Helper Library.

It contains several parts of code that have been outsourced from the main UI for performance reasons.

For convenience reasons and to keep the number of files shipped with Resonic down it also contains some third party libraries that, according to their licenses, are allowed to be linked into DLL form.

This file is used by all versions of Resonic.

ResonicMeta.dll

This is the Resonic Meta Core, our proprietary metadata library.

It does all the heavy lifting when it comes to scanning audio files, detecting file formats, verifying file content and structure, and reporting information embedded in these files back to the UI.

The information is then cached and indexed in the database and shown in the file list, the meta panel, and several other places.

This file is used by all versions of Resonic.

ResonicDsp.dll

This is the Resonic Dsp Core, our proprietary digital signal processing library.

It is responsible for creating waveforms and analyzing frequency content as well calculating loudness levels and correlation, and anything else that might have to do with DSP.

This file is used by all versions of Resonic.

Bass.dll

This is a licensed third-party library, courtesy of Un4seen Developments and used with permission.
It handles sound input and output and primarily helps access your soundcard for playback and recording and with reading and decoding certain audio file formats.

There are several other files named bass*.dll which are addons that make sure certain features like WASAPI support or DSD playback can be realized.

Most of these files are used by all versions of Resonic.

Some addons are only present in Resonic Pro.

None of these files might be signed with our digital signature.

REX Shared Library.dll

This is a licensed third-party library, courtesy of Reason Studios and used with permission.
It allows us to read and play REX loops.

This file is only used by Resonic Pro.

The file might not be signed with our digital signature.

OptimFrog.dll

This is a third-party library, courtesy of Florin Ghido and used with permission.
It allows us to read and play .ofr files.

This file is used by all versions of Resonic.

The file might not be signed with our digital signature.
