Delay Time Calculator (DTC)

Description

DTC is an essential tool for producers.

It calculates delay times in milliseconds and frequency modulation values in Hertz for either a song tempo in 'beats per minute', for a frequency value, or for a measure duration and signature. Also included is a tap tempo feature.

Some uses include calculation of

  • pre-delay times for reverbs
  • delay times for software or hardware effects without tempo sync
  • frequency modulation values that fit a song tempo, eg. for synthesizer or filter LFOs, modulation effects like chorus, flanger, phaser, vibrato, tremolo, you name it.

 1.6

Released November 10, 2012

New Features

  • Select a different signature (eg. 3/4) to recalculate the table. (reported: artyom)
  • Configuration is now saved to dtc.ini upon exit
  • Indicator is shown when text is copied to the clipboard

Improvements

  • Delay times can now be calculated for signatures other than 4/4
  • Updated colors and icon

Removals

  • XML overhead removed, resulting in a smaller executable

Released June 30, 2011

New Features

  • NUMPAD + and NUMPAD - are new tempo tapping aliases for SPACE and BACKSPACE
  • UP and DOWN arrows quick-step values in tempo, frequency and measure edit boxes
  • Press the F key anywhere to toggle frequencies
  • Press the D key anywhere to toggle decimals
  • Press the T key anywhere to toggle stay on top
  • Press the C key anywhere to toggle comma representation
  • Big display while tapping tempo
  • Cmdline parameters: /tempo: and /freq: to set startup values

Improvements

  • Tempo tapping improved quite a bit
  • Application closes down much more reliably when ESC is pressed
  • Settings window now also closes down when ESC is pressed
  • Updated readme. See How to tap correctly and Good to know sections.

Corrections

  • Main window height can be customized (see Settings button)
  • Configuration is now saved to dtc.xml upon exit
  • Now accepts Frequency as input value in addition to beats per minute
  • Now accepts Measure as input value, based on length in msec and signature (eg. 4/4)

Improvements

  • Frequency calculation updated to more practical values
